Tour Officer

The Office of Mayor Olivia Chow is hiring a Tour Officer.

We are seeking a highly-motivated individual, with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills  to help manage the Mayor’s busy schedule, build strong relationships, and provide direct support to her as she connects with all corners of the city.

Reporting to the Director of Tour, the Tour Officer is responsible for planning the Mayor’s participation in public events, liaising with event organizers, staffing the Mayor at events and bringing stakeholder and resident needs from events back to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Day planning including managing and building the Mayor’s schedule and attendance at events and in communities across the city
  • Work with and builds relationships with community organizations and stakeholders hosting events 
  • Seek out events for the Mayor or Mayor’s office to consider attending 
  • Ensure event logistics, including locations, timing, and agendas, are accurate, including any last minute changes
  • Conduct advance visits to event sites, as needed
  • Produce and provide timely access to event briefing materials for the Mayor and Mayor’s office, including relevant materials for speaking notes
  • Ensure the Mayor's tour stays on time, diligently attending to details
  • Accompany the Mayor to community functions and events, providing support and anticipating needs; this includes evening and weekend events particularly on Sundays and Mondays. 
  • Liaise with event organizers and on-site media
  • Take photos and videos at events to assist the Communications team
  • Ensure that detailed post event follow-up occurs: handing off follow-up items and constituent concerns, bringing them back to the team for prompt delegation 

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Deep knowledge of community groups, stakeholder networks and events across the city 
  • Calm under pressure with a friendly, outgoing, and confident attitude
  • Tremendous attention to detail and great organizational skills
  • Able to thoughtfully anticipate needs and take swift, supportive action
  • Experience working for and staffing an elected official or candidate
  • Excellent communication skills, including email, in-person, and phone
  • Ability to problem-solve and adapt quickly
  • Exercises good judgement
  • Experience with event planning and schedule management is an asset
  • Experience in customer service is an asset
  • Driver’s licence is an asset

 

Application Procedure & Employment 
Full-time indefinite contract for the duration of the term of office.

Salary band: $70,000 to $85,000.

Anticipated start date: March 9, 2026.

This position requires work in the evenings and on weekends. It is in-person, based out of City Hall with significant travel across the city.
