Tell the Province:

Keep Toronto’s Roads Safe

The Provincial Government’s decision to scrap Toronto’s speed cameras will make our streets less safe — and passes the costs from dangerous drivers breaking the law, to all taxpayers.

It’s simple. If people don’t speed, they don’t get a ticket. But instead of holding speeders accountable, the Province is shifting the burden onto everyone else.

City Council unanimously backed Mayor Chow’s motion calling on the Province to uphold it's commitment to pay the costs of the safety programs they just cut, including millions for:

  • crossing guards
  • traffic safety police officers
  • safer intersections and traffic calming

The Province has created a major funding gap. If they don’t step up, critical road-safety programs will face cuts.
